Cichlids for 29gal

Hey everyone,
Here is my situation, I currently have a 29g tank, with an eclipse hood and filtrarion system. Due to space and financial restrictions I cannot get anything bigger at this time. I am trying to figure out what kind of cichlids would work well in this tank. I'm kinda thinking a pair of discus, or some sort of malawi setup. Are these resonable ideas? If so, how many fish would work? If not, does anyone have any alternatives? Thanks for all your input.

A pair of rams....some apistos...
 
Any dwarf SA cichlid, archocentrus species from CA, many tanganyikans (shell dwellers, julies, N. brichardi, Altolamprologus calvus or comps).

kribensis would work they're small and have tons of energy. if you get a male and a female theyll probably produce fry. Mine have layed eggs a couple times but my yoyo loaches just eat them. i'd get rid of the loaches but theyre so adorabe they remind me of little dogs that will eat anything you put in front of them.

i have one blue ram too its not agressive at all in my tank and is really beautiful



shell dwellers are cool too. i have never had them but i've read about them and they sound really neat. not sure how many you could keep

NO Malawi's!! I recently went through a cichlid issue, and found that they need WAAAY to much space. 120 gallons, 55 gallons at the very least! I had to find new homes for my lake malawi cichlids because I didn't have enough space.
 
I'm not sure kribs would do well in a 15 gallon tank - they can be on the more aggressive side, even to each other, in a small tank...I wouldn't recommend anything less than a 20 long.

I think A. thomasi (African butterfly cichlids) might work better if you want a west African riverine cichlid.

Did I miss something? Who said anything about a 15g? Aolson has a 29g, right?
