??Cichlids not eating?? IMPROVED! NOW WITH MORE INFO!

hi all,

Nee some help, i have around 10 cichlids established in a 105 gallonm tank which suddenly are not eating. i am feeding them all the same foos i used to (dried krill, cichlid pellets) btthe only think they eat now is frozen food.

any ideas? water params are ok, this has been going on for around a week otherwise fish are healthy.

Okay, we need the cichlid species. There are hundreds of cichlid species from virtually every continent (expect Antartica) with different tank and water requirements.

Also, we need your water parameters, the exact value from the test. The main reason is the value is okay for a convict probably won't be okay for a discus, and so on.

Just did water tests, everything is OK. PH Nitrates etc.

Tank holds non aggressive S.A. cichs, severums, blod parrot, clown loaches etc.

Tank is not overcrowded and has been set up this way for years, all of a suddend the fish are afraid to come to the top of the tank where the food floats to eat. Strange, thet will eat frozen food but i don't want to spoil them and have to buy nothing but that stuff.

Okay,

We need the exact reading from your test kit for the following

Ammonia
Nitrite
Nitrate

We need a complete species list
How many severums?
how many BPs?
Any other cichlids besides those?
how many clown loachs?

How often do you do a water change and how much do you change? Have you done anything within the tank? (changed lighting, moved decorations, etc) Any new additions? Did you just give them feeder fish from the lfs?

once fish find a food source that is more plentiful or better for them they will seek out that food and in the wild they would have no problem (like a hatch of inscects could last for a month). the best thing to do is to constantly present the pellets and every 3 days or so if they still refuse to eat the pellets use frozen food. remember to skim off excess food!!
