(RANT ON) Are cichlid owners as agressive as there fish? Seems like it to me, I have never seen so much flaming on a message board EVER. Most people come to a forum for help not to have the first person respond with some idiotic reply about why they think there imoral or cruel. If I find a thread offensive you know what I do? I hit the "go back" button on my browser and go on to another thread that intrests me, but on this forum every thread I look at has two homers flaming each other about who's brain is smaller. Give me a break. This is my first and last post on this MB, not sure if the Mods are on vacation or just blind but i'm sure i'm not the only one who feels this way. (RANT OFF)















Special note to homers..... no reply's needed I don't care.

especially for someone who admits this is the 'first post'

then states it is also their last post.

what's the point if you don't hang around to see if the post makes any difference? :duh:
 
Personally, I don't really care what others do with their fish........frankly, it's none of my business. As long as I do a good job taking care of mine....I see no reason to flame someone else who could care less. You can't make someone care when they just don't, so I don't waste my time trying or get a big high out of trying to make someone else feel small. :huh:

Now, if someone isn't taking proper care of thier animals/fish out of "Ignorance"...I do what I can to help...IF invited to....or if I see an opportunity to do so tactifully.

Actually, the ones who jump on the flaming bandwagon generally end up looking just as bad as the one getting flamed........

Something you need to understand about this website is that it has for all practical purposes been abandoned by the administration and moderators.
It continues to function but not be maintained or moderated.
Almost anything goes now, however crude, rude, derogatory, inflammatory or ignorant.
This is truly a great loss as Aquariacentral was one of the best.
There are many other excellent and well moderated/maintained cichlid and general aquaria sites/forums to be had, these are my personal favorites.

That being said, if you can wade thru the bulls'hit there is still much experience/wisdom to be garnered and the archives are brimming with just about every imaginable topic/question.

But you better have a thick skin.

I guess I just have a passionate personality. When it comes to animals I feel the need to repair the wrongs that others have done. Animals are the last innocence in this world and people severely take advantage of that. I'm not with PETA or anything, but I do aggree with thier goals, and feel everyone else should begin to think differently about all the living organisms on this planet. After all, they have earned thier right to be here just as we have, and we have no right to experiment on them and treat them like lesser organisms.

This board (and others, to a lesser extent) has a lot of people who are overbearing in how they deliver their opinions. I've seen many responses that lambaste the OP with how they should be treating their fish, rather than giving friendly advice. There is such a thing as tact, but it escapes many people on this board.

IMO, I take relatively good care of my fish and I've learned a lot from people on this board. As I gain experience, however, I realize that a lot of the advice goes to the extreme, especially with regards to stocking levels, filtration, and maintenance.
 
It just seems like this is one of the more popular aquaria boards which means more trolls. If you're on here a couple times a day or even daily you're bound to run into one + the miseducation of people by pet stores leads people to believe they know what they are talking about when they really don't.

Thanks for wasting bandwidth for a post to say that you're not gonna be posting here. If you can't handle someone being rude to you or to others, then stay off the internet and never leave your house. God forbid someone actually disagree with someone and point out unbelievably blatant stupidity. While I'm normally one to "hit the back button" as well, sometimes a stupid thread/post comes along, and I just can't pass it up. This is one of those posts. Congratulations!
 
:cool: I believe in my case it's more passion than aggression. I deeply care for the fish, not just mine. That's why I tend to express displeasure when I encounter "devil may care' attidudes. These are living creatures that need to be respected & treated w/ the utmost care. Their are a number of members here that feel as I do but sadly we seem to be in the minority these days. I haven't totally given up on this forum yet because I believe new hobbyist here still need sound advice & if I can share w/ just a few, then my 'sig' holds true. Alot of the :rant2: should be replaced w/ :idea: and the :mad: w/ :) . That would go a long way to improving the climate around here! :argue: dosen't have to be a 'no holds barred' contest. :read: a little more, :D a little more and we'll all be the better for it!! :clap: :clap:
