I bought a circular saw at a flea market and I think that a bearing is bad and does that pose a real safety hazard? WIll that also pose a real problem with operation?
The bearings are like a ring of little balls that surround a metal piece. It is hazardous if it gets worn down to the point of grinding and digging...I would check if it needs grease or must be replace, also it may make your motor overheat and explode....chec to see grease or replace the bearings if necessary
OoooOOOooOooOOO. The little balls in the dish kind of thing. That chat really messed me up. Go on MSN tonight. Make sure it dosent overheat. Thats never a good thing.
My neighbor said it that he knew a guy that was killed with a saw with bad bearings and he also said that if I took the saw to a machine shop, that it woukd cost more to replace bearings than buy a new saw. How do you replace bearings anyway? I am afraid that if I try to I won't get the saw back together.
It could be difficult depending on the design of the saw, if you bought the bearings and took it to a mechanical shop it shouldn't cost that much.... I would do that....
What brand did you buy? If it's a Craftsman, take it in to Sears and see--often they will replace the product if it's faulty, and they will repair it if they won't replace it.
