dose any one on here have one or know any thing about them. i heard that they can lower nitrate. but i would like to find out and are they for s/w or f/w.
 
yes, they can lower nitrates....Its the kind of thing that does not get seen very often as they spend their time buried in the sand bed filter feeding...

Most people dont waste the money buying them online, most go to their local fish monger and buy some there..dirt cheap....

They are very hit and miss though...when checking on them, if its only slightly open, its a live...if its wide open in the tank, its dead...

To acclimate, put in a bowl of tank water and just keep toppping it up every now and then to keep warm..when they break open, they are ready to go in the tank...

Thats about all there is too them really...

Oh...and if you have cleaners in there....they usually go bonkers trying to get at the clams inside...and i mean....they go mad !!!!
