Cleaning a saltwater tank for fresh?

Wasn't sure what forum to post this in... I am still on the search for the BIG tank and might be able to get a 150g that used to be saltwater. I'm not sure how to go about the cleaning for that and I don't know if I would be able to do a thorough enough job with it being so big!! Can't really dump it out in the sink !!! Is this worth the hassle? Possible to do?

It would be easier if you could rinse it outside with a hose. Just spray every inch of it and make sure that there isnt any salt, calcium, etc left.

Fill with hot water, add 4-5 scoops of oxyclean. Soak until the water is comfortable to work in, and use a clean (ie, fosh only) nylon brush to scrub at any water stains or algae on the glass. Drain, refill, drain--repeat till you can't smell the oxyclean anymore.

I could do this outside, but would it be bad to dump oxyclean in my yard? I'm a bit of a tree hugger Also, does the salt somehow soak into the silicon, or would the cleaning take care of that if it did?

Silicone won't absorb salt, no worries there. The oxyclean is harmless--I've dumped it on more flower beds than I can count. Once it's sat for long enough, there's nothing in there that will harm anything.
