Cleaning Gravel

ok i put it in a bucket under the kitchen tap and let the water flow in it and strained it every so often and it worked well, putting it back in the tank a small bit at a time and the water is relatively unchanged. Now i can get to planting my plants properly

a paper towel attached with a rubber band to the filter intake works great as a temporary prefilter to trap fine particles caused by floating debris.


A sponge filter in the tank works even better.

would a sponge over the filterintake do the same? Paper towel might get a bit messy after a while in the tank. One of my tetras managed to get stuck in the filter intake luckly i was there watching and turned it of before any damage occured

Thinking about getting a python or ordinary gravel vac soon, will be alot less hassle changing water
