Cleaning tank for after having a turtle

I just gave my nephew my slider know I want fish in my 75 gallon tank
I have already read the questions and responses bout the bleach my question is do I also leave my canister running or do I stop that clean it by hand

I would clean the media, just give it a good rinse in dechlorinated water and make sure flow isn't impaired. It should be well colonized, and the bacteria colonies needed are the same for both turtles and fish.

By hand, no use of bleach at all. Just rinse!
