I've researched the topic of cloudy eye for about an hour and have not really found any solid answers. Does anyone know, or have experience, as to the cause of the problem, what it is exactly, and how to get rid of it? I have a coral beauty that has developed a cloudy film on it's eye and I am treating it with a product called Paragon, at the direction of my lfs since I was pretty clueless as to what to do.

I bought a Lawnmower Blennie that had the same problem. One of his eyes was cloudy. Well after about two days or so it cleared up. I asked the same question you did here on AC and some suggested that the fish might be stressed. Once he was happy in the new environment he was fine.

SO...
Are your water parameters OK? Fish get stressed very quick if the water is off even a bit in some species. How long has your coral beauty been this way?

Water parameters are fine and I do a 10% change every week. I just got him a few days ago and placed him into a Q-tank that was filled with water and live rock from my show tank. So, he has had it for about 3 days now, and I will be adding the second of three doses of Paragon tomorrow. Hopefully it works. I have never used this stuff before because I have never dealt with this disease or parasite or whatever before.

Was the eye cloudy when you purchased the fish? Cloudy eyes can indicate problems with the water quality, or it can be the result of hitting something. If the angel was scraped or stressed in the LFS tank (often happens when being netted), the cloudiness should clear up in good water conditions. Watch the eye for bulging--this can indicate an infection which would require treatment.

The fish was not in the same condition at the fish store. Since I am not 100% sure of the cause, I would have to agree that it may have scraped it's eye while being netted. I am really not sure. All that I know, is that my coral beauty has a white film covering it's eyeball and I thought that I could start a discussion about the problem as it happens so others can use it as a reference tool. Thanks.

I added the second dosage of Paragon today. The white film has condensed into what appears to look like a white contact on his eyeball. The white disc is protruding off of the surface of the eyeball. The fish is not, and has not, had any unusual behavior. Hopefully everything is going fine and I can report a good status in a couple of days.
