I used clove oil to euthenize my molly. I put the oil in a 1 gallon tank. The oil sank and solidified on the bottom and no matter what i try i can't get it out. I have tried hot water, vodka, and viniger with know results. Does anyone have any other ideas. I would like to use this tank in the future but can't with that residue in it.

grr i hope it gets clean

sounds like you need to clean my tank still lol or all the fish that go in it will die :bowing: :dance

maybe myriatic acid <sp> but someone with better knowledge of acid wld be better soutied in offering acid than i am.especially if it's acrilic < might try a cap full of bleach or a splash, let it sit for a week and wash it really well maybe fill it for a week and AIR out b4 ever using it again, just a thought:>

Alchohol or ether (hard to get straight ether anymore) I would use the alchohol personally, just pour a little alchohol, and wipre up the oil. repeat a couple of times. and let the alchohol evaporate out. Then if you are worried rinse with clean water the next day.

Don't forget "DOVE takes greese out of your way!"

May sound silly, but Dish detergents are pretty good at removing oils and greeses. They also rinse pretty much completely away. You gotta figure these are used on our dishes. I would not use it to clean a tank with gravel or anything porous, but a plain old 1 gallon tank should be easy to rinse. If really worried, run some carbon in a small filter on it.

Alchohol sounds resonable to me, i was just thinking that sometimes maybe the cure is worse than the problem, what i mean is clove oil ? have you ever thought about putting a sick fish in a bag and hitting the bag on the floor, or putting it in the freezer ? not trying to start anything w/anyone but instant death to me wld be better than clove oil,. how did clove oil work for you anyways?
no im not cruel or maybe to some i am, i see it at practical ,..

That's actually not a bad idea. The only problem is the detergent would be harmful to the fish. You might be able to get away with doing the detergent thing and then the bleach suggestion that someone posted earlier.
