I've watched lots of fish in my day, but these little guys sure do have some peculiar behavior! They have been pecking at the sand in one corner, and occasionally fanning the sand to sort of make a burrow. I'm sure I have seen this before but usually with an anemone. Where they sort of rub in and on it. They have completely cleaned the sand in that spot (I've got some brown algae due to tank newness). I just don't think I expected them to be pecking sand and spitting it back out.
I'm not sure there is a question here, I'm sure they are okay. I guess I'm wondering if I am depriving them a proper space without an anemone to host? We are planning to add corals and an anemone down the road, but didn't want to invest in the lighting just now. Are there any fake decorations that may make them feel more at home? Or is that just a bad idea?
