Clown fish feeding

I recently bought a three month old clownfish and was wondering how often I should be feeding it. It spends most of its time swimming around and eating anything floating in the tank. Is this an indication that I should be feeding him more, or are clownfish a type of fish which will eat regardless of whether or not it is hungry. Maybe mine takes after his owner and is slightly on the piggish side.

Any help would be appreciated.

In the wild, clowns pick at plankton constantly. Mine would eat all day if they had the chance. I do a morning and evening feeding, trying to keep the female a bit on the fat side.

I am in the same boat. My clowns are probably about the same age as yours. When I bought them my LFS told me to feed them a pinch of frozen brine shrimp every other day. After reading a bit more about clowns I found out that this is not really a good idea. In the ocean they are constantly eating, but they eat a large variety of foods in the process. I also have some tankmates to take into consideration (shrimps). I have started feeding them daily. I have been using the frozen brine shrimp, Hikari Ocean Plankton, and Hikari Marine -S-. So don't worry about them always seeming hungry because by nature they are always eating in the ocean, but try to make sure that they at least have a diversity of food similar to what they might find in the ocean. I am probably about to switch to two times a day with smaller feedings, as well, to keep feeding a little bit more similar to the ocean. Hope this has helped!
