My Black ghost knife's fin has gone into strands like a feather sometimes does.
This happened about 3 days ago. I'm using MelaFix to help repair and Fungus-Ade as it looks in some spots like his fins have shortened and I started to think maybe fin-rot.

Now at first I didn't think much or the Clown Loach chasing him round but it has been happening for about 4 days now that I've noticed and I'm starting to think he might be what has caused the fin damage.
The people at my local shop think it's highly unlikely and it doesn't look like he ever gets close enough to nip at his fin but he sure does chase him around the tank flat out then stops for a rest lol.

My BGK is at least twice the size of him.

Recently I had to take my biggest fish out (Blue Acara, too aggressive) out and maybe they are fighting over who is boss of the tank does that happen and they seem to be an odd couple to be doing that.

From what you have said it sounds like you only have one Clown? Its quite possible he's terribly stressed if thats true, Clowns are a social fish and need a group of atleast 5 or 6 to feel comfortable and satisfy their social needs. I've never seen a Clown do any damage to another fish, atleast not when they are in schools.

when i was 15 i got a BGKF and i had it for 2 years he was in a 29 gal tank with some other catfish "cant think of the name" and he was the bully of the tank. He was the one chasing the others around. Untill my power went out when we left town for 2 days and the fish died :(

what size is the tank?

20g, maybe small to have a BGK but I'm new to the game and only now realising things like this.

I've had the Clown Loach for about a year and he's never caused any trouble he's been fun to watch as he plays with most the other fish and tags them round looks like he is playing.
He's been with the BGK for about 3 months never seen any of this before.
As I said maybe cause the bigger fish (Blue Acara) has been taken out.

I'll see what happens over the next week but I'm 80% sure he has caused the damage to the fin.

I agree that the clown might be stressed. Your tank is too small for it and its alone. My clowns will occasionally "kiss" their angel tankmates during feeding times, but it appears more as a sign of curiousity than stress.

hummmm i had 1 clown loach(and 3 agnels) in my tank for almost a year... never had a problem, but the clown loache is alot happer it seems like now i got another clown in there with him

Sorry but I have to disagree with this comment, my lfs had 10+ clown loaches in a tank with a betta (if I remember rightly) and they were tearing it to shreds. I had to point it out to the guy in the shop and he was astounded at how quickly they had ripped the betta apart

I didnt say its impossible, but I'll say again

Though I probably should of included 'when in proper conditions' instead. For one thing, I see problems trying to house clowns with bettas. The other issue is were talking about a lfs, I usually wouldnt base much anything on what I see in a tank at an lfs. I posted prior because it often comes up now and then that someone says not to put small fish with clowns like neon tetras. Then the more experienced clown keepers say they have never had a problem and seek more legitimate proof than something someone thought they read somewhere. And no one ever speaks up with personal experience. Clowns are generally one of the more peacefull botia.
