I am upgrading to a 75 gallon tank..I have 3 clown loaches that I'm going to move over to it...can I add any more? I will move the bosemani rainbows over and get more of them too, and also the fish from my quarentine tank.

Good question! I'm getting 2 55gs in December and a 90g in April. Moving my Boesemanis to one 55 and getting Millenium Rainbows for the other.

I plan on putting my two clowns in one of the 55gs.

In April I will be moving the clowns to the 90g.

So, should I get a third clown for the 55g, or wait until April?

PS
Nursie: how many more Boesemani are you getting? I've got 5 (3 males and 2 females) and was going to add 2 more females. I can't remember what the ratio is supposed to be but I wanna get it more balanced before these guys get sexually mature. They're already bickering over the 2 girls.

I don't know, Roan. I need to figure that out. Someone here had posted about another rainbow fish that I looked up and it was red..real pretty. I'd like to get some of those too. and I have 2 neon ones. I think they are pretty fish...and would make a colorful tank. If anyone knows maybe they can tell us. My goofy loaches like to school with my bosemani rainbows...silly!

That might have been me that posted that. If it was the Tami River ones, they only grow to about 2.5", which is nice. I've been told on the rainbow list not to mix Boesemanis with smaller rainbows because *some* Boesemanis can be very aggressive. She had a Boesemani named "Killer" or something that she had to put in a separate tank.

Here's a link to the rainbow list: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/r_m_l/

if you want to join. THere are some pretty well-known rainbow people on there.

Clowns can live in a 55g just fine until they get up to the 8"+ size. A 75g is plenty big for 2-3 growing clowns. When fully grown 12+, a 5-6' tank would be best as these fish are very active and require plenty of swimming room.

So Slappy, you're telling me to keep it at the 3 I have for the 75. That's ok...

Roan, thanks for the link, I'll check it out. I can put the smaller rainbows in my 55 then. Not a problem.

Well, you could actually have quite a few young clowns in a 75 for quite some time.

My loaches have been in my 180g for about 6 months and have only grown about an inch. In total since I first got them, they've grown about an inch and a half.

Depending on where they will end up as adults, that's what I would base my number on. I planned on keeping my clowns in an 80g, so I got 3 of them. Then I realized the 180g was in my future, so now I have 5 in the 180 and I'm growing out 3 juvies.

Have you tried hand feeding your clowns? I usually either hold a couple of cube of frozen blood worms, and they go nuts......the only bad thing is tht my RTGG also gets brave enough to eat from my hand and can get startled when she bites my finger. :)
