Clown loaches... beautiful!!!

I gave mine away when I realized they were going to be way too big. I only had 2 and they were getting kinda neurotic at about 4 inches because they didn't have enough room in my 40G and needed more buddies.

the sad thing is that most people dont know that. Most new ppl are attracted to these fish for the their bright vivid colours, and the store employees tell them that they will be fine in a 20 gallon tank. Poor creatures.

Clown loaches do get quite large, but mine have grown very slowly. I bought them about 1 1/2 years or so ago and they were about 2-3 inches and now they are around 4-5 inches. I have them in my 55 gallon discus tank and they still have a lot of growing to outgrow the tank. I was not aware that they grew so large when I bought them. I paid $16 each for them.

Yeah, when I got mine, I got three, and of ALL the times to do an impulse buy... Tsk, I went to the store to look for botias (completely forgetting there was one that would grow too big) because they were small, just right for me. The only Botia was the Clown Loach, so I thought it was okay and got 3. Got home, got them in the tank, looked online, and felt the blood drain from my face. But I'm going to make it work. I've lost two (intestinal parasites), and Big Pig is thriving. Since I got them a year ago, I've been putting money away and saving it up, so that in a year or two, I'd have the money for a 125Gal. The upcoming tax money is going to be a big chunk and I just might get that tank a little earlier than I was expecting. But at this point, I'm attached to Big Pig and I can't bear the thought of giving him up, so I'm making sure all will turn out well for him. I can't say I haven't been stressed and a little anxious this past year, though, lol

The price of Clown Loach in the UK is horrendous compared to the US.

You're talking an average of £6 for a fish about an inch - if that. Most are sold much smaller usually 2 for £10.

I have 5 right now in my 60 gallon from 3-4 inches they are doing quite well, my friend i ran into today is going to give me 5 of them and theyre about 7-8 inches. They'll be in the 60 for about a month in a have until I get a larger tank for them but I sure do love them

they run about $6-$7 around here... im gonna be picking some up in the next week or so.. so I can grow them out for my 125g

Last I read the only successful breeding involved adding hormones to the water and it had not been done on a large enough scale to appear in the market. But its been about five months since I read that.
