I was just wondering if i bought a torch coral would a clown host this coral and what else does a clown host. Also i really hate my rock set up for my ten gallon nano. If anyone has any suggestions i would really like to hear them. I will be getting tons of coral so keep that in mind. THanks

I had a maroon clown that would host in my torch, bubble, condy, and regular anemones. However, it is very unusual behavior. Unfortunately no matter what clown you buy it could be the luck of the draw as some clowns won't even host in a true anemone. The best bet is to go to the LFS and buy the pair.

Make sure you have ample lights and perfect water conditions. Note that anemones move around the tank and can sting other non-mobile corals. Also make sure you put sponges on your intakes so the anemone doesn't get caught up.

Brent - from my own experience and reading up on others' experiences, I can tell you that there is absolutely no hard and fast rule as to where the clowns will host. I added a pair of percula clowns to my 36 gal tank and they move out of the topmost corner of the tank. I have about 40 lbs of rock in my tank with lots of places to hide and explore and to this date I have not seen them move from the corner. I have tried feeding them in the opposite corner of the tank as well and initially they moved over but as soon as they realized that the current eventually carried the food over to "their" corner, they simply stay put and wait for the food to come to them.
