CO2 bubbles sucked into canister filter? Good or bad?

I just replaced my old HOB with an eheim ecco canister (yay!) I have DIY CO2 with nano glass diffusers. I placed the intake of the canister filter near one of the diffusers, and since noticed that the micro bubbles are being sucked directly into the intake instead of floating up to the water surface like they used to. Good thing, or bad? Should I move the diffuser farther away, or will leaving it like this work like a reactor? Will I get air built up inside my canister?

if they get sucked into the canister they will just dissolve into the water better. personally i would put it under the outflow of your canister so that the bubbles swirl around your tank. either way is fine. unless there is a ton of bubbles going into your filter you should be fine.

I have two diffusers in there, the second is under the outflow. So I guess I'll leave it all as is. Thanks!

i think you might want to consider moving it further away from the intake.

i would assume that the intake is designed to suck in water, not air.

not sure if it would cause any damage though, i used to have my air pump near my filter intake and i would hear a really loud air pop sound when air did go in. it took me a good 2-3 weeks before i realized what that sound was since air bubbles didn't always go in and my pump still works, but i quickly re-arranged my air tubing pipe when i found out.

it does sound like a good way to further mix the c02 but i wouldn't take your chances since who knows what it can do in the long run.

I have an ecco too. I was initially letting the CO2 bubbles run right into the canister. This actually created some problems as the bubbles would collect at the highest part of the filter... the impellar. Once I started using an air stone to break it up into many smaller bubbles rather than one large one, the problem seems to have stopped. The short of the story... as long as it's little bubbles going into the filter, you should be fine. But you want to avoid large bubbles going in and collecting.
