im thinking about getting 5lb co2 tank.something similar to this
and i was wondering about the reglator, would this be alright? it doesnt say anything about how much PSI the regulator can hold.
 
Cylinder looks good. You might want to call around first to local CO2 refill places to see if they have CO2 cylinders on hand that you can purchase used or new. You'll have to do this anyway, since you have to factor in the cost to Hydrotest ($20) the new cylinder and fill it ($10). You can probably get a 10# reconditioned for around $60-70 depending on where you are.

The regulator looks fine, you'll have to add a needle valve and maybe the fitting for the CO2 tubing. Might be better off getting an all in one unit, like the Milwaukee or Azoo from aquabotanic, or drsfostersmith.com

I would suggest you check to see where you would get the tank filled in your area, because most of these places will not fill a tank you did not buy from them. They will sell you a tank filled, and then when it is empty swap it for one that is already filled. Kinda pointless to buy a tank online under those circumstances.
 
Go to praxair.com and search for a local dealer. I got a brand new aluminum tank filled with food grade CO2 for $68. I also got a regulator for about $60. I bought my tubing and needle valve from Home depot with some hose clamps. The total cost for my system was around $120.
 
well i live in hawaii so i wont be getting that, shipping is just ridiculous.
what about the pressure? that regulator can hold 1000psi?

things i need:

co2 tank
regulator
needle valve
solenoid valve - plug it to a timer and automate
tubing that can hold the pressure.
co2 airstone, or inject to my eheim intake.

did i miss anything?
 
Standard airline tubing will be fine the regulator is there to reduce the pressure from the 800+ psi down to around 10-20 psi depending on your setting. Praxair will probably have a shop in Hawaii otherwise look up your local welding shop and see what they have.

Bob i've never run into that yet anywhere in the US. They all fill mine ( exchange them) when I go in.
 
Co2 tanks must be inspected every few years. You have to drop it at the refill place who will send it away and it will come back to you in a few weeks. I bought my Alum 5 pounder and at the last refill was told next time it would need the inspection, If you do the trade type deal, this wont happen.

how long do they last anyway? i heard you must get inspected every 5 years or so.
i have a 6 gallon tank and considering 2.5lbs or 5 lbs tank.
