"companion" for Betta?

if I were going to have platies, rasboras, or danios in with my betta! I'm attracted to the idea of having teeny tiny schooling fishes (since it's an 8 gallon tank, they pretty much need to be that small!)-- ah well, can't wait to get my 40 gallon tank going (then I can have big schools of tetras!!!)--

so far, least killifish & pygmy cories are what I'm looking at. May try to tempt fate with the Endler's, but probably better to have them in my 40 gallon community tank, eh?? :)

Keep 'em coming, love the suggestions~!
I will say both fish Endlers and Least killies are great fish. I have kept common guppies with Bettas and never had the problems people tend to fear. But then again, they did not have the long flowing fins. I am sure a few of the young fry got nipped every once in awhile.
But if you get endlers, I suggest keeping them in a 10-15 gallon tanks to start off with. Make it a planted tank if possible and they will do well for you.

And as for the Dwarf Killie, well its my avatar and one of my favorite fish. These guys do very well for me, I keep them in 2.5-5 gallon tanks. They are by far the coolest fish I have ever kept. I actually gave a trio of these guys along with Endlers to a friend of mine and she keeps them in a 5 a gal tank and they are just doing great for her. As for pairing them up with Pygmy Cories, I think that is a great idea but I just havent found the cories yet up here. And I hear they are really hard to care for. But I would still like the challange. It would be cool to have a tank with fish that barely reached 1 inch in length.

If you can get both these fish, i recommend doing so. They are a nice touch to have since most other aquarists do not keep them commonly. So they will be a unique little water garden for you. And I am like you, i love the concept of having a tank filled with Tiny fish darting everywhere in a tank. Actually most my tanks are all tiny fish. :D
