I have a question about the compatibility between bichirs and violet gobys. I have two bichirs, both about 6 or 7 inches long. I had a peacock eel in with them for about a month and a half and never saw any problems between them. Unfortunately the peacock eel managed to jump out of the tub I was keeping them in while getting my tank resealed, leaving room for another eel-like fish. So my question is, would a violet goby (aka dragonfish) have the temperment to be compatible with a couple of bichirs? I noticed these fish at petsmart and was immediately fascinated by them. I've heard both that they are agressive and that they are very peaceful, and would like to know from people who have actually owned them, what their temperment is like. I've also heard debates that they are brackish as opposed to freshwater. My tank has a little bit of salt in it, but not so much to make it brackish, is this all right for them? Also is there anything else I should know about them, like diseases, etc. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Violet gobies are a brackish water species. Their water must be kept at a slightly brackish level, but it's still far more than freshwatrer species should be exposed to.

I like those gobies, but haven't gottan them yet becuase of the salinity problem. When I get my BW tank, they will go in there first.

they are peaceful, but brackish
