i know this gets asked a lot, but i'm wanting to add some more fish to my tank.

Tank Specs: 20g heavily planted (amazon and brazilian spears, driftwood with java moss, going to add a 2nd piece of wood in the next few days). Whisper 20-40 HOB filter and Visi-Therm Stealth 100w. tank is cycled and been running cycled for about a week now. ph is steady at 7.5, but am working on slowly bringing it back down to 7ish

The current fish.
6 Tiger barbs
2 Bamboo Shrimp

what i'd like to add:
-1 or 2 Ottos (maybe, not sure yet, dont have enough algae to support them)
-i've read that some cichlid species work well with barbs, as they are more agressive, so the barbs leave them alone, and the barbs arent worth their time. i like the German Ram or the Firemouth. but not sure how those will work in my tank, i'd purchase a pair of whatever fish i get. so there would be 6 barbs, 2 others (cichlid, or other), and maybe 2 ottos.

any other recommendations? i like the more agressive species of fishes, i enjoy watching the barbs chase eachother and feed.

If you're worried about enough algae to feed 2-3 Otos (I would recommend 3), it shouldn't be too much of an issue - most do fine with Wardley Algae Wafers (Or Hikari if you can't get Wardley), and I have never seen any of my Otos turn down blanced spinach, cucumber or zucchini. I don't know however, if they would be compatible with the other tankmates you've suggested, someone else may know better. My Otos have always tended to rule the roost, amazingly enough, and nothing picks on them, but I have heard of the reverse as well.
