Completely silent canister filter?

I'm thinking of setting up a tank in my room this summer...and I really need the filter to be silent, not just for sleeping but b/c I do all my school work in my room and noise annoys me xD

Will be filtering a 75g tank

I have an eheim 2217 and an eheim 2028 on my 80 gallon and both are extremely quiet, especially the 2217.

i have found Eheims and Marinelands to be dead quite. i think you will find that most canister filter will be quite.

i have a rena xp2 and an xp4 on my 55 in the living room. the xp2 is in the cupboard of the stand (sitting on a folded towel) and the xp4 sits beside the stand. i hear nothing from them and actually check the filter outputs in the tank to make sure the filters are running. i sleep on my couch most nights and they never keep me awake.

FX5 is not only silent but almost seems maintenance free it last so long between cleanings, and your tank will be so clean you may take it for granted.

well i see supporters of eheim, marineland, rena, and fluval :O

i think it's going to be eheim 2217 vs marineland c-360 vs rena xp3, fx5 price is above my budget right now

you might also look into the Sunsun filter on ebay there a copy of the marineland filters and are supposed to be pretty good. not sure how quit thay are though gunner or some one else who has one can comment on that.

I like the sunsun I check mine cuz is so quiet that I have to look or touch it to see if is on.

Fisrt choice would be the Eheim. Second choice is the Fluval

Agreed, if your looking to get a canister with only stacked media design without large surface area circumference filtration design provides such as in the Magnum series, Fx5, Ocean Clear. Then yes you will do every bit as well perhaps even better in quiet operation good filtration with the new $43 Sunsun.
