Does anyone have Congo Tetras? I have been doing research on them and in the pictures I see, they look really pretty. But I have never seen a live one. Are they a colorful, peaceful fish? The LFS here never has them, so I would have to special order Hate to order something I have never seen. Are they as colorful as the pictures? Also would Pearl Gourami be compatible with congos? And can there be only 1 Pearl Gourami? I have read that you need 2 females and 1 male. Have had dwarf Gouramis before. Would appreciate any help here.

I have 10 Congo Tetras in my 75 gallon aquarium. If your tank is large enough, I world definately recommend getting a school of them. Here is a picture of one of mine.

Where in Oklahoma are you located? I don't know a whole lot about Congo Tetras per say but I know at least one shop in Oklahoma City that carries them in stock. Aquarium Concepts on MacAurthur, just south of 50th street has always had them when I go in. They are open odd days so call for their hours. I have bought several fish from them and they seem to be good fish and knowledgable people. I believe Congo's can be bullies with other tetras but you might verify that. They are very good looking fish. They look similar to White Tetras only about twice the size with longer fins and have a pearl to their color.

HarryC, beautiful picture!! My tank is 55 gal. What other fish do you have with the congo tetras?
Snakeskinner, I'm in McAlester. Krebs, really. Never get to the City, Tulsa, once in a blue moon.
Hope the congos are not agressive, I really like a peacefu tank.
Thanks all for replies!

I have them in with angelfish, siamese algae eaters, otos, a farowella catfish, a clown pleco, glass catfish, and bolivian rams. They are not agressive, but can be very active at times, which might bother slower-moving fish.
