Hello, this is my first post.

I'm planning to start a container pond using Maccourt's Free Standing Water Garden. Been reading the various threads, getting ideas.

But one thing I'm not clear on is the proper location for a container pond: Full sun, partial shade, full shade, etc, I live in Los Angeles, CA.

I'd appreciate your help.

It all depends, on your preferences. There is reasons to or not to put them in certain areas. Ultimately the best place is where you can enjoy it, near a patio or on a deck. You'll need a small fountain pump to keep the water from being stagnate. Full sun can create an algea bloom. But if you have lots of plants in the container it will compete with the algea to help keep it at bay. I highly recommend floating plants like water lettuce or water hyacinths. I think both are illegal in California, unfortunatly. There are many others availble that you can add to create a nice looking water feature. The first picture is a water hyacinth bloom, and the second is a container pond in my yard.

Reddog80p: Thank you for your response, the photos of your pond are great.

I have an open patio where the sun comes in during the late afternoon for a few hours, I'm thinking of putting the pond there so I can enjoy it from inside the house.
