Continue dosing ammonia? Fishless cycle

2o gallon high
Flourite substrate
temp 82
HOB Aqua Clear 50 filter

Seeded with a sponge from my AC 20 off my 10 gallon.

I dosed ammonia, pegged out the API test (which is 8), did water changes to bring it down to about 5.

I've been testing ammonia every day and it's been slowly dropping.
Today it is 0 and nitrites are pegged out on the test card - which goes to 5.

I need to add more ammonia right? What level of ammonia should I have?

Yesterday ammonia was 2. Today it's 0. Should I just add enough to get to 2 again? Any guess how much that would be in a 20 gallon?

You need to raise it above 0 everyday.

I just added a "splash" when i started and it was obviously WAY too much! LOL

i add about 1 tsp to get a reading of 3.0 ppm in my tank which is a 20 gallon long, be careful adding any more than that though as it can take you up to 6 ppm or more fast


on a second note im supposing this tank is cycled by now since this was posted in 2009 lol
