I have a standard hood fixture on top of my 250g tank. Just like any hood you'd see on a tank only that it's 8feet in size. Now it only opens up half way, so I only get limited access to the tank without taking the whole hood off if you get my drift.
Now I'm looking for any plans that I could use so I can alter this hood so I can get full access to the tank, kinda like a car bonnet where the whole top would open up.
I've been thinking of cutting the top piece of wood off and add full metal hinges that allow me to fully open the top of the hood. Been reluctant to try it because I'm afraid that taking the top off would break the whole thing, because I don't know how they put it together, nails, studs etc. If anyone has experience doing this kind of thing please reply.
