I have a 20g tall tank, and i've been thinking very seirously about making this tank set up for one convict cichlid. I have heard they grow to a max of around 6 inches, so i think my tank is big enough for one (1 foot by 2 feet of surface area)

Now, i would love to keep about 3 or 4 albino cories with him, would this be a problem? Right now, i have a 10g with 3 albino cories that are all almost 1.5 inches or more... so they are quite large ... they have doubled in size since i got them. So, would having these guys with a convict be a problem? Right now i have a 8 inch high rock shelf in my tank's corner that's about an inch away from the sides. So i figure my cories could hide

Do you guys think that owudl work? Is there ANY fish at all i could keep in this size tank with a convict cichlid? Maybe white clouds -maybe the convict could be population control?

thanks, caleb

A lot of it depends on the temperament of the cichlid you get. I have pristella tetras and zebra danios with two pink convicts and they do fine. The convicts spend most of their time aggravating each other, and they will chase any fish that comes in thier 'zone' . I can hold my finger close to the tank and one of them is so territorial, he looks like he is having an epileptic fit til I move away. He does the same thing with the 11 inch Pleco when he comes too close, but the pleco just sticks a fin up like an elbow and wiggles toward him and he backs off.
