Convict eggs

after weeks of looking for a spot my female convict finally laid her eggs. They all seem to be a dark color so they must be fertile. I have read that even though most of the time they are good parents some people seperate the babies from the parents, if so when should i do this :confused:, Also how long should i wait after they hatch to feed them?

Im not a pro, but my convicts were extreemly good with the fry. If they lay new eggs, the fry are now considered a thread, so they may be eaten, but otherwise you should be fine for a while. If they do end up dieing, at least you will have more babies in about 2-3 weeks.
 
im not sure how long the eggs have been there but some of them are moving and falling off the rock. The female is being good to them so far, where she picks them up in her mouth and puts them back on the rock.
 
I got two sets of Convict fry swimming around my tank right now. :p
The parents will take care of everything and will not let anybody harm it... mine killed a Green Terror in the process.
 
Yeah,you can feed the fry. You can crushed up flakes, feed brine shrimp, or get powered fry food. I used fry food, and it worked extreemly well since it was so small the parents would only go after the flake food and not the fry food if you fed them both at the same time.
 
I have a fry food now. I have been feeding the parents floating pellets, and they are trying to eat the frys food even when i put theres in there at the same time. I have a 20gl tank cyclying for 3 weeks now, so when should i transfere them into it?
