So i just noticed that my convicts had a bunch of babies, prolly about 70 or so, i noticed a few days ago that my female convict looked alot skinnier but i couldn't see and eggs or anything so i kinda didn't think to much into it. Then this morning noticed all the fry free swimming.
Anyway i know convict fry probably isn't the most exciting thing in the world but just figured i would post this.

Looking at the fry, have you noticed any that don't look like the others? I took a pot out of my convict tank with the eggs on it to a fry tank. (We are raising feeders too, so the more that grow out the better.) When the eggs hatched and the fry became free swimming, there were lots of the ones with fat, round bodies hanging out together at the bottom, and then a bunch of ones that looked like thin slivers that preferred hanging out at the top in a corner. The only thing in the fry tank is that pot, but I do have some danios and tetras in the tank with the parents. Kinda curious to see them grow but wondered if it is common to have convict fry that are skinny and straight with no belly to them...

now that they are getting a little larger I have to say I think they are zebra danio fry...strange strange strange that the danio should have spawned in the same place to hatch at the same time tho! color me confused as to whether or not that is really it *shrugs* I'll keep watching as they grow out.

well if the fry ended up swimming to where the convict fry were then there is a chance that the convicts would take care of the daio fry to as long as they were near the same size, i know that if 2 pairs of convicts breed that either of the pairs brood sizes will change because the fry will swim between the 2 pairs and get mixed up

Unfortunatly i live in a somewhat small town, so there aren't really too many ppl to sell them too, and they have them at the LFS here, so not to much of a demand really but i guess it's worth a shot
