I just purchased 3 firemouth cichlids and i already Have 3 Convict cichlids, they are fighting out the ***... I understand the convicts ate territoral, but that much, will this continue ??? Help ANyone!!

Mix it all up before adding new ones

If your tank's deco can be rearranged with ease, do so before you add any new ones in. The original occupants will think that they themselves are in a new place and then both new and old ones will not think who is invading who.

If its less than a 55g I would say take 3 back if the firemouths are are the same size or smaller than the cons I think they will loose.

I've had a lot of experience getting aggressive fish to get along, and the most important thing to understand is that EVERY SINGLE FISH is different. I once started a 30g with all new baby fish: one each of Black Convict, Green Terror, Red Devil, Midas Cichlid, Flowerhorn, Managuense, Nicaraguense, Firemouth and a Dovii. Given enough room and enough places to hide, they all reasonably coexisted, but the dominent fish changed about a dozen times as they all acclimated differently and grew at different rates. The Convict was the big boss at first, but by the end, was the smallest and had to be removed before being killed by the former wussies. It's all trial and error, give 'em LOTS of hiding spots.

This is a very good idea..

my cons are so mean I cant do a water change without getting a welt or fighting them off with the tube. If your cons get full grown there ant no way your firemouth stand a chance. I now have my pair in my tank with my Green terror. It doesnt seem he can live with anything else. My GT wants to kill everything. My TX is going to have to go:(

Maybe it's just me but my experience with Firemouths is, they are candy asses.
