I have an aquatic gardens 2 gallon planted invert tank at my desk at work. As the silly thing takes a 4W incandescent nightlight bulb it is really hard on the plants (elodea is barely making it). So I went looking for a replacement.

Check this out isn't it a cool little thing. Little spendy but I've never seen one this size in stores.

Compact+Fluorescent+Screw-in

It replaces these standard things. (hopefully)

Incandescent+Bulbs

20 lumens to 250 lumens, the algae is going to be in paradise.

Same base size according to the description E12 (candelabra). I may have to knock out a little bit of plastic on the end because the CFL is 1" longer and 1/2" wider. I measured and I think I can get it in there.

Even at 2700K it will be an improvement over the 4W incandescent. Not asking for perfection here just an improvement.

That makes sense — a 4W incandescent nightlight bulb isn’t ideal for plant growth, especially in a small planted tank where light quality and spectrum really matter.

You might consider swapping it for a small LED aquarium light with a daylight spectrum (around 6500K) — LEDs use far less heat, give better PAR for plants like elodea, and will help your plants thrive without overheating the tank.
