Hey gang

I have a planted 55 gallon community tank with a ph of 7.2.

My question is, if i use coral, would i need to seal it first as to not raise the ph in my tank? What kind of sealant would i need? im unsure of the byproducts of clear spray in a can.

I dont want to hurt my fish, i have mollies, tetras, oto's,guppies and two loaches with black band right before the tail fin.

i cannot get my money back or credit for the two pieces of coral and i will do whatever is cost effective to make it where i can use them

HELP!

thanks so much

Can you provide images or a more detailed description of the coral pieces in your possession? Even if sealed (a difficult proposition in consideration of its generally porous micro-architecture) they would pose the risk of abrading or cutting your fish.

its cats paw coral. I will take pictures once i get them, they are in the snail mail system should be here in a day or so. I have a barnacle in there now but havent seen any of my fish injured.

The pieces seemed bumpy but sharp edges like a barnacle. i wont fully know until i get them. Shoot there has to be a way of using them without screwing up my tank. i love the look of the barnacle and the fish like to hide under it.

i hadnt thought of this problem, I use stress coat with every water change. no more than 25% and roughly same temp water fill from my python no spill and i make sure to declorinate the water too.

thanks

I wouldn't coat it. It shoudl be safe to use in you r tank, but may mean that you need to do bigger water changes to make sure the pH doesn't raise too much.

What is the kh and gh of your tank?

the ebayer agreed to take them back. im going with bog wood and tieing xmas moss to it. Would staples be better or try to find a nylon hair net? never used bog wood.

I just dont need the headaches of ph battles

thanks for everything
