Does anybody use t5 bulbs in their lights? I was thinking of buying the Coralife T-5 Aqualight Double Strip Light....But it seems most people use t8 bulbs ..

I really just want a light that will show case my fish well. The tank is not planted . I would like to leave the option open to try some low light plants later on. I dont want to buy the Compact fluorescent because i might not plant the tank and the additional watts might increase my alge growth. I was also looking at the All-Glass Single Deluxe Strip Light..

Any input would be appreciated...

It is a 36" light for a 30 gal L tank. But will the t5 tubes will be hard to find or expensive.

many stores around me (in california) sell then in many lengths including 36 inch. They are not very expensive but in generally seems to be near the number of inches in watts. In otherwords a 36 inch will give around 30-40 watts. I cannot remember what it was that I saw. The general benefits of them is a thinner diameter tube providing higher then T8 wattages per inch with slightly lower heat level. At least that is my understanding of the "wow" factor for them. Since I have not used them I cannot confirm this.

As I said earlier they are somewhat new. The pricing seems to be less then a power compact would be for the same number of inches. The wattage is higher on a PC bulb but the heat is higher as well. Online they are very available. In the local store it is limited according to what the retailer chooses to carry. If you look online you can probably find them pretty easily.
