Just got it about a week ago. Its in my 44 gallon 5 year old tank. Its pretty descent so far. But any ideas why the bottom quarter of the main part has no bubbles down there? At and above that intake looking thing there many bubbles but not belowb

The bubble r injected with the water at the bottom of that tube inside the main chamber. The bubble rise from there thats why theres no bubbles down there. Theres not supposed to be.

I was thinking that... but its retarted. Its just wasted space. It doesn't serve any purpose does it?

That is where your return water comes from, it greatly reduces micro bubbles!! Not retarded just good enginering work.

Jojo is correct. Most skimmers have this space at the bottom. The return water comes from lower in the skimmer where less bubbles make it to because they rise. Without this all the micro bubbles from the skimmer would be going back into your tank. Many other skimmers i have seen have an even bigger area without bubbles. Some have injectors that are almost half way up the chamber.
