Well Ive went through and done the mods everyone here helped me with on my seaclone 100 skimmer. It hasent helped at all. I waqs pulling out some gunk but for the past few days it hasnt done a thing.

So Im looking into the coralife super skimmer 65. Does anyone have any input on what they think of this skimmer or is there another skimmer I should look into? This will be going on my 55 gal setup.

I just dont want to make the same mistake twice!
(buying a piece of @#$%!). :rant2:

i have one. it does a decent job, but i would still like something more for my 40 breeder.
make sure to watch out for your water level flucuations. I had quite a number of overflows which caused that, including one while i was away for the weekend in block island. i lost about 5"s of water in my tank (which is only 16 inches high....), had water all over the floor in the kitchen downstairs (which has already ahppened, and caused the rents to threaten to make me get rid of it multiple times) and lost about 100 bucks worth of frags that were up top in a frag tray, including a superman monti, and a colony or two also. My step dad doesnt know anything about them, so when he called and i told him to unplug the skimmer, instead, he turned off the entire outlet. so my reef went without lighting, flow, and HEAT for about 20 hours (and this was a CT october when we dont turn the heat in the house on...). a lot of acro colonies completly browned out, and i lost a bunch of corals
so just be careful about that, a lot of skimmers tend to do this, however. running it insump may be a good thing IMO, but either way, jsut watch out, no matter what skimmer you get

Is it fairly easy to get adjusted or is there alot of tampering involved with it?

I will be using it has a HOB. I guess anything is better then the seaclone. If Im going to spend the money again I just want to know Im making a good investment, and wont be replacing it 2 months from now.

The people at the LFS told me about this skimmer and said it would do a lot better job. Just want some input from some people who have it already.

Thanks for the info!

I have this skimmer as well (a larger version though). It shoots out a lot of microbubbles but I'm still trying to fix and adjust that. I had the overflow problems too but now it's inside my sump so it won't flood my floor anymore.

If I were you I would just get an Aqua C Remora if you are planning on using it as a Hang on back protein skimmer. There is no necessary adjustment with the Remoras and I don't believe it is possible for them to overflow. I think they do cost a little more though, but their build quality is outstanding.
