Hello! I have 2 albino cories that I almost got at the same time and I also have 2 copper colored cories that were also bought around the same time. All three cories have grown up and are fat compared to this small albino cory who is almost the same size as when I purchased him which was more than 2 months ago. The others are twice as big as him. Does anyone know why this cory is growing up so slowly?

thanks!

Could be just individual variation. My albino C. aeneus is pretty small compared to the normally colored ones he schools with. Does he seem otherwise healthy?

Yes he seems very happy and actually more active than the other 5 cories. I was just curious why he wasn't growing much.

Thanks!

Well, if the others grew and they all lived under the same conditions, I'd say it was something specific to that fish. He's albino, so he wasn't wild-caught, which makes internal parasites unlikely. Since he seems healthy and active, he's probably not sick. I would venture that he's just a smaller individual. I say he because male cories are normally smaller than females. Now that I think of it, does he have a less chunky build than the others? Maybe you have all females except the little male. That would help explain the size difference.

Yes the others are actually much chunkier than he is and they all eat the same. I've heard about males being smaller than the females but I didn't think it would be almost twice as big. The other three are actually pretty fat and they all have tummies while this little albino cory eats just as much so I think you are right that he's a male.

Thanks a ton for the info!:)

Hi,

Most of my 12 (yes, I just got two Schwartz's to add to my group:dance2: ) Cories are on the small side, but they are all healthy!

I have one Peppered Cory that is only 1.5 inches long! But does she have long whiskers or what!:)

How big is your 'small' Cory?

The small albino cory is about 1 1/2 inches long and thin. The others are about 1 2/3 iches but really chubby.
