I know that there are false juliis which are called Trilineatus. They have reticulations on their heads while Juliis have spots. Am I correct in thinking this? My new ones have spots on their heads and almost forward looking eyes. Much personality there! Is it possible I have Juliis by some great chance? I really don't know where my LFS gets their fish and most of the time they tell me someone brought the fish in and asked them to find it a home. I will post pics if I can get them to sit still for a second. LOL

Brochis has a longer dorsal fin. 12 rays compared to the 7 of Corydoras. That's the easiest way to tell.
You're right about Juliis and Trilines. Juliis have disconnected spots, and are less hardy than their amoeba-spot, hardier cousins.

At the LFS, they have a couple of corys that look like juliis. Quite small at about 1.5". They never stay still enough for me to get a chance to look at their markings. They've been there for a while now (month or so) and no one has picked them up. I really want to setup a 10 I just got for free and get them. I feel bad for them since they're in a tank with a bunch of albino "Hong Kong" cats that swim like mad all over the tank.

Can you post pics? Julii's are very rarely available. Hard to believe they'd really wind up in an LFS unless like you mentioned, a hobbyist turned them in there.

Not Juliis :(

Not a Julii but I love them anyways. Here is one of the new ones with a Peppered and an Albino.

That is one peculiar looking cory there. Has the reticulated spots and characteristic 3 lines of a triline, yet the coloring is quite dark, like a peppered. I've always thought that trilines were much lighter in color, like a tan color with spots. Or that guy just has really bold spots.
