Cotton like substance in filters!

Help...

Everytime i do water change, i always check my filter.

And i been seeing spots of white cotton like areas on the dry parts of the filter. I can take a pic but it but it dosnt show up well.

Any ideas what it is? None of my fish been dieing.

I would say it's mold from food or gunk that pops up from the filter (on it's wall) and lands to dry off but being in the moist environment, turns moldy.
