Could these be eggs on my glass?

I have a 70L established aquarium but have recently (just over two weeks ago) changed from goldfish (coldwater) to tropical. In the last day I've seen tiny white dots appearing scattered on the glass (one here, one there) and have also noticed some tiny globs on leaves. When I look this morning a number of the white dots have disappeared so I'm guessing something is eating them... but want I want to know is what could they be? I've never had snails in that tank, but if something did hitch hike in with the new fish or plants, then how did they get on the glass? Or could they be something else?

Tank occupants are: 1x adult krib, 1x small algae eater, 1 each adult m/f guppy, 2x younger female guppies, 4x penguin tetras. I got some val with the krib, and one other new plant.

Also added an oxy shell but I don't imagine the dots would be from that...?

I tried to get some pics but camera wouldn't focus on the little white dot, slightly better of one on the plant the one on the glass with a brown spec in the middle.

Huh, I didn't have a guess. I'd never heard of FW limpets, I hope they're just interesting & not pesty in some way. I'll need to google them sometime.

Welcome to AC & tropical FW. I hope you're planning to plant the crypt soon. Don't be surprised if you lose some leaves, it's called crypt melt. It should recover pretty fast, they often hate change.

F fishorama thanks for your reply! Apparently the limpets are useful in that they eat algae, dead plants and even poop... (which would have been great in my goldfish tank LOL) so that is cool. And much like snails, if you have too much 'food' in there their population will explode, otherwise they shouldn't be too much of a nuisance. I'm going to keep and eye on them for a month or few and if I like them I might introduce some to my other tank - as I plan to get cories for there, who don't eat algae. Let's see...

As for the crypt, good to know what it's called... ? yes I do plan on planting it, I have a 5yo who I let 're-arrange' the tank display a couple of times during water change and now I'm regretting it as he thinks he's entitled to re-design at any time... and for some reason my plants end up floating...

I want to get a floating plant for my new tank (160L, currently housing 1x female krib, I'm looking for a male, and a couple of guppies) - they say the kribs like a bit of cover. I want something pretty. I know that's changing the subject of my own thread but if you have any suggestions I'd be interested - all my education on tanks, ecosystems, fish and everything else involved hasn't got so far as plants yet. Probably because my goldfish always ate them...

T TwoTankAmin thanks that's an interesting read! It seems they must be a pretty unusual thing to turn up in an aquarium! I'll see how I get on with them - haven't removed any yet and I think they're doing a great job of cleaning up some minor algae growing on my fake plants that would never scrub off... (the pink one!!).

My tank is clean and I feed minimally once per day and I also have an algae eater to hopefully clean up... so I'm hoping their population will remain helpful and not explode... may update this thread later with how they go if anyone is interested ;)
