In an attempt to increase the light output for my 20gallon without spending for a new hood, I purchased this under cabinet portable light to try out. Here's the question: It says on the package that it outputs 60 watts (which would be enough for plants, right?) but only uses 15w. Is this accurate? Has anyone tried this? I'll try it for a couple of days and see how its works...I'd appreciate any feedback on this...thanks

It puts out 15W of fluorescent light (the standard aquariums go by), but the equivalent of a 60 watt incandescent bulb. It should work pretty slick, just peel of any lense in front of the bulb (unless it will be directly over water without glass between), and grab a hot bulb from Home Depot or Wal-Mart, look for daylight, around 6500K if you can find it.
