Finally got this guy out after knowing he was there for about 3wks and molted twice...LFS said it was harmless to coral and stuff but it would eventually lay eggs, then it would be a problem...Is this true? If not can we put it back in? I feel guilty killing it cause I don't think the store will take it...

Please advise asap...
Thanks:dance2:

It looks similar to what I heard someone call a teddybear crab?? or something like that. I don't know, myself, but that person said that particular crab was bad news.

Don't know if that is helpful or not.

HHMMM...

Thanks, i read that tedybear crabs are bad too...If that is the case how should I dispose of it in a humane way???

if you have a sump, then put him in there, or pass on to a LFS or fellow reefer ( if they will take it that is )..If all else fails...." All drains lead to the ocean".....right???!!!!????......ok, well, maybe not...but, they are your options...

I had a crab come in as a hiker on one of the last lots of rock i brought, and, inhumaine it maybe, he had to be flushed...no-one would take the little beast and at that time, and i did not have my sump to pop him in....

Thanks Niko, I don't have a sump as it is only a 10 gallon tank...so I'll give the store a call. If that doesn't work ... I hate the thought of it.

Thanks for all the replies,

I made my husband do the deed, I couldn't bring myself to send it to toilet hell...

I hear ya! It is almost a full time job keeping everything happy and functioning properly. But it's all worth it, I can't wait till we get our bigger tank going...patience is a virtue. One I have a hard time grasping hehehe!

Niko, how is your DIY coming along?

Hey Kandi...Yeah, its all working a treat...check my thread out if you have not seen it..its on my signiture..

Reminds me actually, rather than adding to other peoples threads, i must update my own....he he he he
