I posted this in the invert. But had to share:
So I walked into the kitchen the other day, only to be met with a screech from my youngest, "MOM!!! THE MALE CRAB IS TRYING TO EAT THE FEMALE! SAVE HER MOM!!!"
So armed with a teaspoon, thinking maybe she had died and he was scavenging, I approached the tank.
There they were, locked together. All eight legs gripping the others shell. I just laughed. So I brought the youngest over and explained that he was not trying to kill her, but in fact they were mating.
"EWWW GROSS! HE IS WORSE THAN THAT SUPID GUPPY WHO KEEPS TRYING WITH EVERYTHING!"
Well, now we have a female holding a huge clutch of eggs. We'll see what happens now, although I don't expect much.
