Cracked Acrylic Tank - Common Problem?

I have two acrylic tanks. Both Eclipse Systems, one is a 3 gal, one is a 12 gal.
Today while doing my water changes I noticed several cracks in the 3 gal, down at the bottom, cracks kind of intersecting like something hit it...but they are on the inside. Not leaking at all and I figured I would go tommorrow and buy the same system so I would have spare parts.

Then I went to do the water change on the other tank and it has the same type of cracking in the exact same spot. Now I have to replace both tanks (which is over $100) and I am wondering if maybe I shouldn't get the Eclipse or maybe not get acrylic at all.

Has anyone else experienced this with Acrylic or Eclipse tanks?

I am not too familiar with the eclipse tanks, how old are the tanks? if they are not that old you may be able to call them and return them. sounds like a defect to me.

I thought I read something about this either here or on another forum.

contact the mfg..if the tanks are not too old they may have some sort of warranty.

Interesting to see that I am not the only one experiencing this. I have had the tanks since November but I am going to contact them today to see if they will replace anyway. I went ahead and just purchased a new small tank...hoping they will replace the 12 gal since I went on their website and they want $96 for the replacement tank....I only paid $74 for the whole system at Dr. Fosters and Smith!

Thanks for the input!
