Crays and bottom dwellers

Idea! :idea: set up the 20 for him like you said you were going to do, maybe get 2, and put a bunch of guppies in there. Then you will never have to feed the crayfish! They will eat the guppies, and the guppies will hopefully reproduce fast enough to feed the crays. :joke: Man, sometimes I even amaze myself.
 
the 20g with guppies is a good idea... if your crayfish is good at catching fish! I set up a 10 with guppies and a little cray and I have to feed him all the time, and the guppies are really taking over .. you'd think they would stop doing the deed when the tank starts to get over populated!
 
My crayfish never bothers anything. He prefers the pond snails to messing with my fish.

One crayfish per 20-29 gallons is plenty. Any more and they will fight once full grown. If you stretch to a 55+ it would probably have enough territory for two.

If you want to know your particular cray's hunting tendencies, put him in a Q-tank with some cheap fish and see what happens before adding him to a community.

Many predators eat crayfish in the wild. Patoloco, I know you keep stingrays and I think part of their natural diet is crayfish/shellfish, you may want to check compatibility.

PARTICULARLY after the cray has moulted. During this time, which usually lasts several days, a cray is very vulnerable, both to predators and just more aggressive fish that might appreciate a "lobster" dinner. Thus, you not only have to be careful about the cray eating his tankmates, but his tankmates turning the table (pardon the dining pun) on the cray.
 
Also, it usually isn't a good idea to keep more than one crayfish in the same tank together unless the tank is fairly large (4'+) and the crayfish are approximately the same size. In the wild, the crayfishes' diet consists mainly of other crayfish.
