I guess we'll be seeing special investigator Lucas and agent Sandano on Animal Precinct carrying out fish tanks soon.

that'd be awesome!

i'd love to see them rescue all the oscars and goldfish and plecos crammed into 10G tanks.

What an idiot!

What's in my mouth... ewwwwww!?!

My friend had a betta named blue elephant :D

If he was to indeed be convicted of the aggravated cruelty to animals charge, would that not set some sort of precedent? Which could then lead to other laws having to be modified as this would then be considered case law? (or something like that)

I think you mean Common Law. (Essentially means the same thing). I think more attention should be paid to all forms of animal cruelty. Look at Jeffery Dahmer...he, like many other serial killers, started out torturing animals before moving to humans. To me, cruelty to all types of animals, is a scream for help.

BTW...I wish I wouldn't have read that article at 5:50 am Christmas morning.

That's terrible! What a sick person... What if he starts hurting people and not just animals?

He probably already has...domestic abuse is often not reported by the victim(s).

I'm so incensed... hope they throw the book at him. The betta we had (lived for years), was blue... we called him Brue. Like "blue" with a Japanese accent. /tear

Probably a more humane way to go than down the toilet.

While the act was reprehensible, is it any worse than throwing a feeder comet into a saltwater aquarium for a trigger fish to eat from the tail up? Having worked for many years at a LFS, I've seen so many fish die of so many causes, I'm admittedly calloused to it. The egregious part of this case seems to be that it was a desired specimen rather than a "for food" specimen.

I see a difference in feeding a fish to another fish(or any animal) and simply killing it because you dont like the person who owns it. I'd rather see a $1000 prize winning fish used as a feeder, than a .$10 goldie killed for the sake of killing.

If he wasn't charged with criminal trespassing, I highly doubt the animal cruelty charge would have been added. A lot of times when people get arrested they add as much as they can to the charge hoping something will stick.
