I would like to compile a list of medications that are definitely safe or definitely not safe to use in my community tank w/crustaceans. Any links or advice please?

Thanks!

Anything with copper is a no-no. Past that, it will depend. What medications are you considering? What are you treating? I prefer to avoid medications in my main tanks--hospital tanks are much better, and allow you to use the most effective meds, rather than being limited.

Thanks, that is a good suggestion... I've been reluctant to use my "hospital" tank (since it is actually my betta's home, and he usually doesn't care for visitors... but then partitioning is an option too.) I wish I knew for sure which illness I was dealing with. I thought it was bacterial bc of ulceration (with white growth), but now it seems to be responding to Pimafix after only 1 day of treatment... a fungus among us!? (I am upgrading filtration and looking to unload some overly fertile rosy barbs to get my water quality more hospitable..)

Still looking to compile that list though. :read:

A hospital tank is NOT the same. A hospital tank is one that does not contain any other fish. Period. Plants, maybe. No fish. Defeats the purpose, and exposes the betta to the disease.

Fungus are few and far between, IME. Bacterial infections, especially in tanks with too many fish, especially nippers, are very common. Antibiotics are largely okay with crustaceans, and should be labeled as safe, but tend to wipe out the beneficial bacteria in the tank as well as any 'bad' ones, resulting in ammonia spikes that further stress the fish.
