Anyone have any experience with these? They look amazing and I heard they have a good temperament.

Not experienced with them, but the scient name coreponds with the Gar Characin.

It's an agressive fish used to fast currents so you'll have to give it plenty of swimming space with a current produced by your filter.

Tank setup requires dense planted areas. This fish will feed on other fish and invertebrates. It's not really a good choice for community aquariums.

Ph neutral, hardness 10dh, 26ºC (79ºF)

Love this fish, have owned three. Very good temperament (with fish they don't view as food). They won't bite or snap at other fish as they don't really have teeth. Like snakes they catch they're food and swallow whole. Very shy and definatly need cover. Once they get big they can get pretty powerful for their size. The hardest part I found about keeping this fish was trying to make sure they all got food. The larger ones seem to become more knowlegdable about catching the feeders you throw in and catch the feeders faster. I also found it very hard to get the fish to accept anything but live food. They will eat ghost shrimp, and feeders. They are brought in from the wild, not tank bred. Well if there is anything else you need to know let me know lol I could go on and on.
