is there any way to culture mosquitos? i filled an old bathtub up at my dads house and i can get some out of there now, but i want to be able to keep a supply at my house (instead of having to walk around the corner)...... if anyone has any info it would be appreciated.... and i do not plan on having hundreds of adaults, just the bare minimum..

Any small pool of water should support mosquito larva, but keep in mind that the female must have blood before she lays her eggs in the water. Depending on your location (and the W. Nile virus), encouraging mosquitos close to home may not be popular nor advisable.
i just thought about that when my mom said something about it..... i think i will just put a few mosquito fish (gambusia affinis) in there to clear it up.... if i were to do that would i need any kind of filtration?? there is algae and plants in there (for oxygen) and i will check the temp on the weekend (so i can check it about every 30 min.... would i be able to put any other fish in there? maybe i could get something to breed in it... any ideas about that????
Nor legal. Many states are (or are considering) making it illegal to have mosquito breeding grounds (watering holes) in your backyard that don't conform to certain templates...I don't get it either, but Illinois has already banned cemetary decor which may hold water...and is looking at the pond thing.
Why don't you switch your energies to culturing daphnia? Of course, they may not weather the summer in Needles CA, if I remember rightly.
i might try black wroms (my sort of local fs has them...) i cant just go there whenever i want tho'.... does anyone know a good website for blackwroms? and what kind of fish do you guys think would be ok in there (if it doesnt get too hot or change temp too much)???
Keep in mind that many municipalities have some sort of chemical spray being spat out upon their residents to kill mosquitoes during the worst of the season.
It is probably quite regional (my area is sprayed quite regularly), but is something to think about nevertheless. You don't want to be feeding your fish contaminated larvae.
