that is one highlight about living here there are lots of festivals and fairs to keep us busy, we are going to a wood carver's demo show at the town hall tomarrow and then the area craft fair is this weekend too, so we are going there on sunday (over 150 crafters--very cool), the renassaince festival lasts until the end of the month, we already went once this year but we are going to try and go agian on the 16th or 17th, without the kids this time

im sorry, but thats a whole new level of sad for me....chainsaw art? i thought the most culture a chainsaw has seen was Texas Chainsaw Massicar.

I live about 15 miles from our Ks State Fairgrounds & go to the fair every year-often several times! We have a guy who comes in & does Chainsaw art like 6 times a day-they auction off all the articles on the last day of the fair & give the proceeds to various charities-he does the usual things, eagles, bears, etc., but last year I watched him carve this goofy looking pig-it was hilarious-had a smile on its face & everything!!
I've run a chainsaw-I'm lucky I can cut straight through the wood, & this guy who looks like he would wear a size 56 jacket can do the most delicate work with one-it's amazing!!

Saws have only been around for 1500 years or so and are known to just about every culture on earth. Most people would identify the saw as the tool of choice for cutting 2x4s.
I stick with my earlier recommendation of a butter knife; with the additional suggestion of a pair of work gloves to avoid the fate experienced by 125joe.
