Cycle???

OK we had our two raw shrimp in our new tank for 8 days. It has almost totally dicintigrated in it's baggy and we tested H20 last night and amm was not even 0.25 and ites 0 ates were between 10-15... Did it cycle?

Also were told that if it was good cured rock it won't show much of a cycle...
We did a 50% water change and will test tonight...
 
it is true that if you buy really good, properly cured live rock, you will not much of a cycle, however, i would suggest wait a little longer yet as your still showing ammonia...This of course may be because of the carcasses..If they have all but dissintegrated i would remove them now. But, if there is ammonia in there, then i would also expect to see something, if only a v small ammount on the nitrites...

Give it few more days yet and test...Your ammonia and nitrites need to be at zero...

That is just my opinion of course..

That's what I thought, Hubby went and added a couple hermit crabs and a couple snails from our established tank at lunch. Will they be ok, we did do a water change last night...
